Over 144,000 people identified as Samoan at the 2013 Census
The Samoan ethnic group comprised 144,138 people or 3.6 percent of people that stated an ethnic group living in New Zealand on 5 March 2013.
For people identifying with the Samoan ethnic group living in New Zealand on 5 March 2013:
- The most common region this group lived in was Auckland Region (66.5 percent or 95,916 people).
- The median age (half are younger and half are older than this age) was 21.5 years.
- 62.7 percent (89,271 people) were born in New Zealand and 37.3 percent (53,106 people) were born overseas.
- 73.3 percent (59,424 people) aged 15 years and over had a formal qualification.
